Whenever there is talk of facial glow and glow, most people first think of resorting to expensive creams, serums, face packs or parlor treatments. However, Ayurveda has a completely different view from this thinking. According to Ayurveda, real beauty does not just come from products applied on the skin, but is related to the internal health of the body. Especially the health of the liver is considered the basis of facial complexion and glow. Ayurveda states that the glow seen on the face actually reflects the condition of the pigment pitta present within the body, which is mainly associated with the liver and spleen.

Five types of Pitta Dosha have been described in Ayurveda, in which the function of pigmented Pitta is considered very important. The main function of pigment bile is to convert the juice formed after digestion into blood. That means it plays an important role in the entire process of blood formation. When the pigment Pitta remains in balance, the blood in the body remains pure, hemoglobin level remains correct and its direct effect is visible on the skin. In such a situation, natural glow, pinkness and freshness remains on the face. The person feels less tired and the skin looks healthy.

On the contrary, when Rangava Pitta becomes unbalanced, many types of problems start in the body. The blood is not purified properly, the effect of which is first visible on the face. Problems like yellowness, dark circles, pigmentation, acne and lifelessness start appearing on the skin. Many times people consider them to be just an external skin problem, whereas the real reason is hidden inside the body. This is the reason why creams or cosmetic treatments alone are not able to eliminate these problems from their roots.

Today’s modern lifestyle is causing maximum damage to both bile and liver. Staying awake till late night, excessive consumption of fast food and junk food, fried and excessively spicy food, habit of alcohol and cigarette, as well as constant mental stress weaken the liver. When the liver does not function properly, pigment bile is also affected. The result is that toxic elements start increasing inside the body and the blood becomes impure. The body expresses these internal disturbances through the face.

According to Ayurveda, proper diet and routine is most important to keep Rajak Pitta balanced. Foods like amla, pomegranate, beetroot, dry grapes and coconut water help in purifying the blood and strengthening the liver. Apart from this, herbs like Giloy, Bhringraj and Bhoomi Amla work as natural liver tonics. Ayurveda also believes that anger, irritability and stress directly affect the liver, hence maintaining mental peace is equally important. When the body is healthy from inside, only then real and permanent glow is visible on the face.
