Side effects of sedentary lifestyle: In most of the jobs nowadays, people have to sit in front of the computer for hours, which is harmful for both our body and health in every respect. Many parts of our body are badly affected by this. Due to continuous sitting in the same posture, there is a complaint of pain in back, waist, shoulders etc. Apart from this, problems like insomnia, stress and blood pressure can also occur due to working sitting at one place. Sitting in front of the screen for hours is not only harmful to our health but also to our eyes and brain.
It also causes huge harm to our eyes and mental health.
1. Working while sitting for a long time may cause back and waist problems.Sitting for a long time can not only cause problems in the spine, but the surrounding joints and muscles can also become stiff. Experts say that people who sit for a long time may have the problem of shortening of hamstrings and strain in the pelvis area, due to which chronic pain starts in the lower back. If you work while sitting on the couch or bed while working from home (WFH), this problem can become even more serious.
2.It also has a bad effect mentally-According to an Australian study, adults who sat for more than 6 hours a day were found to have more psychological distress than those who sat for only 3 hours. Research from around the world shows that people who spend all day playing video games or in front of the TV have a higher risk of depression and anxiety. Such lifestyle also increases the risk of problems like dementia and Alzheimer’s.
5. Problem of sleeping disorder- Staying in front of computer or TV for a long time can cause sleep disorder. Due to active mind one cannot sleep even if one wants to. The only solution for this is regular exercise. Remember, lack of good sleep causes problems like heart disease, weak immunity and weight gain.
5. Headache problem: Constantly looking at the screen and sitting in a wrong position puts pressure on the neck and back joints, which often causes headaches. To avoid this, stretching of muscles is very important.
Preventive measures (Tips):
Be active: Keep the body moving as much as possible.
Take a break: Take a break of 5 minutes after every 45 minutes of work.
Keep weight under control: Increasing weight doubles the problems.
Stretching: Do stretching of the neck and hands in between work.
Correct Posture: Always sit on an ergonomic chair with a straight back.
Exit: Make a habit of walking in the fresh air in the morning or evening.
