Sweets are appreciated by all types of foodies. Celebrating happy news and entertaining guests – no festival is complete without sweets. Murshidabad’s ‘Roll Chamcham’ has been popular in the world of sweets for many years. This sweet has a reputation in the district and beyond the country.
Chamcham is one of the favorite foods of sweet lovers. Different types of rolls are made differently in different regions of the country. Chamcham Misti is usually a bit juicy. Kheer chamcham is made by coating the dry powder (milk) of pure milk chickpeas on top of that chamcham. Sweets are cut and filled with chocolate flavor on top and sold in boxes. About 500 pieces of sweets are sold daily.
To make this Roll Chamcham, the sweet businessmen first collect cow’s milk from the farmers. Over a long period of time this milk is burnt and converted into chicks. Later it is shaped into chamcham and soaked in sweet juice. In the next step, the soft mawa made with chickpeas is converted into hard mawa. Roll chamcham is made by sifting this mawa venge into a powder (roll chamcham) and coating it on top of the chamcham. It is sold in shops with chocolate flavor on top of it. Apart from this roll chamcham, Dakbangla also prepares different types of sweets including pera sandesh, barfi, kataribhog, rasgolla, rasmalai, kalojam, sponge.
