Protein Side Effects: The desire for a perfect body seen on social media may not become the enemy of your health. In fact, these days there has been a trend among women to take high-protein diet and supplements without medical advice, which has increased the concern. After all, what is that mistake which is taking a toll on the vital organs of your body in the name of fitness? What is the limit of protein, once crossed, problems start inside the body? Which is a warning for those women who have accepted the words of internet influencers as truth without thinking.

Kannauj: These days, there is a competition on social media to lose weight and look fit, but behind this glamor there is also a serious health crisis hidden. Following the advice of fitness influencers on the internet, many women are indiscriminately using high-protein diets and expensive supplements without any medical advice. Experts of Kannauj District Hospital have expressed deep concern over this increasing trend and have warned women that without expert care, imbalance of nutrients can cause permanent damage to the body.

Excess protein can become a burden on the body.
Protein is an essential element for building muscles and increasing immunity, but its excess can prove fatal for health. According to Dr. Shakti Basu, CMS of the District Hospital, when women become dependent only on protein without understanding the real needs of the body, it directly affects their digestive system. Consuming more protein than required spoils the metabolism due to which problems like gas, flatulence and constipation become common. Additionally, this condition puts additional pressure on vital organs within the body which can lead to other complex diseases in the long run.

It is very important to decide the amount of protein
Every woman’s body structure and lifestyle are different, so the amount of protein cannot be the same for everyone. Experts say that a normal woman requires about 1.75 to 1.80 grams of protein per kilogram of her weight. For women who do heavy exercise in the gym, this quantity may be slightly higher, but in special situations like pregnancy or menopause, it should completely depend on the doctor’s consultation. Following any diet chart without thinking is not only ineffective but can also cause hormonal imbalance.

Focus on natural sources instead of powder
Dr. Shakti Basu has advised women that they should rely on natural foods available in the kitchen instead of canned protein powders sold in the market. Pulses, cheese, fish, egg, soybean, curd and nuts are the safest sources of protein which also provide other essential vitamins to the body. Weight loss is not only achieved by increasing protein, but for this it is equally important to drink the right amount of water, get adequate sleep and do regular physical exercise.

It is important to recognize these health risks
During a high-protein diet, the body often gives some warning signals which women often ignore. If after changing the diet you are feeling constant headache, fatigue, irritability or dehydration, then it should be understood that the body is not able to accept this change. Experts have appealed that women should give priority to the experience of health experts instead of shortcut methods of social media. Playing with your health in the name of being fit is not right from any point of view and the safest step is to take expert opinion before making any major changes.
