Rishikesh: Turmeric milk has been used as a natural medicine in Indian homes for generations. From cold to body ache and weak immunity, it is considered beneficial in every small and big problem. In Ayurveda it is also called golden milk. But often people do not make it properly. This is the reason that even after regular consumption, they do not get the full benefits that are expected. Actually, curcumin, the main element present in turmeric, is very useful for the body, but it alone cannot dissolve properly.

Benefits of turmeric with hot milk

During a conversation with Local 18, Dr. Rajkumar (Ayush) told that antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties are found in turmeric. It helps in reducing swelling in the body, providing relief from joint pain and strengthening the immune system. When it is taken with hot milk, its properties become even more effective. The healthy fat present in milk helps in dissolving curcumin, because curcumin is a fat soluble element. But just drinking milk and turmeric mixed together is not enough.

How to increase qualities

According to Ayurveda, the real benefit of turmeric is achieved only when a pinch of black pepper or ghee is added to it. An element called piperine is found in black pepper. This piperine increases the absorption of curcumin manifold. Research shows that without black pepper, the body is able to utilize very little of the curcumin. But when turmeric and black pepper are taken together, its effect can increase up to 20 times. Most people make this small mistake.

Mix black pepper in turmeric milk

If you drink turmeric milk every night, but do not add black pepper to it, then you may be deprived of its full benefits. It is enough to mix half a teaspoon of turmeric and a pinch of freshly ground black pepper in a glass of hot milk. If you want, you can add some honey to improve the taste, but never add honey to boiling milk. Mix the milk only when it cools down a bit.

Relief from cold and immunity and strong immunity

This combination of turmeric and black pepper not only increases immunity but also provides relief from cold and cough. It reduces internal inflammation in the body and supports the detox process. It can be especially beneficial for people who suffer from joint pain or muscle stiffness. Apart from this, it can also help in increasing the glow of the skin and improving the quality of sleep.
