Saharanpur. The cases of kidney related diseases are increasing rapidly in the country. Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) has now become a serious health problem in India. According to statistics, more than 13.8 crore kidney disease cases were recorded in the country in the year 2023, making India the second largest hotspot in the world. While this figure was 11.12% between 2011–2017, it increased to 16.38% in 2018–2023. Every year more than two lakh new cases of kidney failure are being reported. The surprising thing is that the biggest reason behind kidney failure is our own carelessness.

Important role of kidney in the body
Kidneys are a very important part of our body. They filter about 200 quarts (about 190 litres) of blood every day and remove toxic elements, urea, creatinine and excess water from the body through urine. Apart from this, kidney also plays an important role in controlling blood pressure, maintaining the balance of electrolytes, producing red blood cells and keeping bones strong. In such a situation, weakening of kidneys is an alarm bell for the entire body.

Increasing heat and AC become enemy of kidney
Dr. Harsh, BAMS, MD, Ayas Ayurvedic Hospital, says that the number of kidney patients has increased rapidly in the last few years. This can be gauged from the fact that three to four new dialysis centers have opened in Saharanpur itself. According to Dr. Harsh, with the increase in heat, excessive use of AC among people has become a big problem. Home, car and office, almost everywhere people like to stay in AC 24 hours. AC keeps the surrounding environment cool, due to which the body does not sweat. Whereas there are only two ways for toxins to get out of the body. Sweat and urine. When sweating stops, the entire pressure comes on the kidneys, due to which with time the kidneys become weak and start deteriorating.

Taking medicines without doctor’s advice is also dangerous
Dr. Harsh says that nowadays people start buying painkillers or other medicines directly from medical stores in case of minor pain or problem. Consuming medicines for a long time without doctor’s advice has a direct effect on the kidneys. Especially painkillers cause the most damage to the kidneys.

We will have to defend ourselves
Experts say that lifestyle changes are very important to keep the kidneys healthy. Limit use of AC, allow the body to sweat, drink enough water and do not consume any medicine without doctor’s advice. It is also important to get health checkups done from time to time, so that kidney related problems can be caught in the early stages. Overall, small carelessness is becoming the cause of major diseases in future. If precautions are taken in time, kidney damage can be saved to a great extent.
