A2 Eat more fruits and vegetables – Eat at least 2-3 seasonal or regular fruits and vegetables daily. They are rich in fiber, which keeps blood sugar stable and controls weight.
A3 Achieve healthy body weight – Obesity is a major cause of diabetes. Keep body mass index (BMI) at normal level. Even losing a little weight makes a big difference. Due to weight gain, many physical and mental problems occur.
A4 Adopt an active lifestyle – Exercise for at least 30 minutes daily. Walking, cycling, yoga, dance or any physical activity is beneficial. This increases insulin sensitivity.

A6 Stay away from tobacco and alcohol – Cigarettes, gutkha, tobacco and excess alcohol increase the risk of diabetes. Avoid these completely.
A7 Attend regular health checkups – Get your blood pressure and cholesterol checked every year. If detected in the early stages, the disease can be easily controlled.
By adopting these seven ‘A’s, any person can reduce the risk of diabetes to a great extent. Adopting a healthy lifestyle is not expensive, but a matter of awareness and discipline. If there is a history of diabetes in the family or the age is above 40, adopt these habits immediately.
