European consumers are fighting back against the US after Trump threatened to take control of the Danish territory of Greenland. As a result, two mobile apps that offer a way to determine if a product is made in America, then suggest local alternatives, have risen to the top of the Danish app store in recent days.
The Danish App Store serves users in both Greenland and Denmark, and the same is true for Google Play.
Downloads increase as Danish consumers Trinamool has organized a boycott American-made products, including canceling their US vacations and canceling their subscriptions to US-based streaming services like Netflix.
Across both iOS and Android, the two apps, Non-U.S.A And O’meter made, entered the top 10 this month, according to new data from the market intelligence provider Appfigures.
NonUSA became the No. 1 app on Wednesday, having previously jumped from No. 6 on Tuesday to No. 441 on Jan. 9. This app is specifically designed to allow users to boycott American products in their daily lives To use the app, users scan the product’s barcode, then view the product’s origin information on their iPhone. It also offers local Danish options that users can buy instead
Currently, the app’s top five markets are Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Iceland, demonstrating a Nordic alliance in boycotting American products.

Med O’Meter, which is available on both iOS and Android, has a smaller footprint but is now the No. 5 app in the App Store.
Combined, average daily downloads for NonUSA for iOS, Made O’Meter for iOS and Made O’Meter for Google Play increased by 867% (or approximately 9.7x) over the past seven days compared to the previous week.

Of course, the number of downloads the Danish App Store sees per day is very low, compared to larger markets like the US in Denmark, it can take tens of thousands of downloads a day to reach the top of the App Store. In total, Denmark’s iOS App Store sees around 200,000 downloads per day across all apps, AppFigure notes.
Other apps currently in the top 10 of the Danish app store include the travel app Rejsekort (helpful for those rescheduling travel plans!), and other local services. Other US-based apps on the top chart include Shop, ChatGPT and Microsoft Authenticator.
