Apart from this, the cold temperature of milk calms the burning sensation in the stomach and gives comfort to the esophagus. In case of acidity, drink plain cold milk, avoid adding sugar or any flavor to it. By sipping a glass of cold milk, you will start feeling relaxed within a few minutes.
The dietitian said that many people like to eat fennel after lunch or dinner. If you are troubled by acidity, then fennel can be beneficial. Fennel contains a compound called anethole, which helps in reducing gas and bloating in the stomach. If you feel heaviness after eating junk food, then chew one spoon of fennel slowly and eat it or boil it in water, filter it and drink it lukewarm. Apart from being a natural mouth freshener, it is also an excellent anti-ulcer agent.
You will be surprised to know that banana is a fruit which works as a natural antacid. Experts said that eating banana can provide relief from acidity. It is a good source of potassium. When we eat acidic food like junk food, banana forms a protective coating on the inner layer of the stomach, which reduces the effect of acid. Eating ripe banana keeps the pH level of the stomach balanced and provides immediate relief from burning sensation. Along with providing coolness to the stomach, it is also considered helpful in removing the problem of constipation.
According to dietitian Ranjana, ginger is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, which has the ability to neutralize the acidity of the stomach. If you are feeling heartburn due to junk food, then put a small piece of ginger in your mouth and suck its juice or drink ginger tea without milk. Ginger activates the digestive enzymes, due to which the heavy food stored in the stomach gets digested quickly and the acid does not come back towards the pipe. It is also a panacea for the problem of nausea.
Celery and black salt can also provide relief from acidity. Celery has been used for stomach problems for centuries. Celery contains an element called thymol, which promotes digestive juices.
