The most important part of this tonic is ‘Arjuna bark’, which is considered no less than a magical medicine for heart diseases in Ayurveda.
Dehradun Ayurvedic physician Dr. Shalini Jugran says that in Ayurveda, Arjuna bark has been given the status of the most powerful medicine for the heart. It contains abundant amounts of antioxidants and cardio-protective properties, which directly strengthen the heart muscles. It not only helps in reducing bad cholesterol (LDL) from the body, but also improves blood circulation. With regular consumption, the pumping capacity of the heart increases and the dirt accumulated in the arteries, called plaque, also starts getting cleared.
How to prepare this magical heart tonic
According to Dr. Jugran, making this homemade tonic is very simple and it can be prepared from the things available in the kitchen. For this you will need a piece of Arjuna bark or its powder and a glass of water or milk. First of all, take water or milk in a vessel and mix one spoon Arjuna bark powder in it well. Now boil this mixture on low flame until it is half cooked. After this, filter it through a sieve and when it remains slightly lukewarm, then you can add a pinch of cinnamon or some jaggery to it for taste. Keep in mind that do not use sugar in it at all because it can reduce its properties.
Correct time of consumption and necessary precautions
To take full advantage of this heart tonic, it is most beneficial to drink it every morning on an empty stomach. Dr. Jugran says that by consuming it on an empty stomach, its nutrients reach the heart cells directly and also improves the metabolism of the body. After drinking this tonic, do not eat or drink anything for at least half an hour, so that it can do its work better within the body.
