BCB Central Contract Renew: It is not known whether there is any reason for Bangladesh not playing in the T20 World Cup, the board has removed the A plus category from its contract.
Kolkata: Bangladesh did not come to play in the T20 World Cup in India arguing that security would be disturbed if they came to India. Various applications of ICC also did not work In this situation, BCB brought forward the new list with the contract of their cricketers The BCB has downgraded Taskin Ahmed and Mushfiqur Rahim in their central contracts for 2026 national men’s cricketers. Taskin was the only player in the A-plus category in 2025, with a monthly salary of Rs 10 lakh (about US$8,169), but now joins Test, ODI and T20I captains Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Mehdi Hasan Miraj and Liton Das in the category.
It is not known if there is any reason for Bangladesh not playing in the T20 World Cup, the board has excluded the A plus category from its contract.
This is the second tier of the BCB’s gradation policy, where each player earns Rs 800,000 (about US$6535) per month. No player has been placed in A+ category this time.
It is not clear why Taskin has been demoted despite his excellent performance on the ball. Team management has generally reduced its workload to prolong its effectiveness in all three formats. Meanwhile, Mushfiqur, who will retire from ODIs in 2025, was in Grade A last year, but has now found himself in Grade B, where he will earn Rs 600,000 (about US$4901) per month. Ten other players are in this category including Test specialist Muminul Haque, Taijul Islam and Shadman Islam.
Shadman has also been promoted from grade C to grade B along with Tanjid Hasan, Rishad Hossain and Mehdi Hasan.
The BCB has also increased the number of Grade Ds from last year, when only two cricketers were in this category. This time, there are seven players including Saif Hasan and Nurul Hasan who returned to the T20 setup last year.
Grade C and Grade D players are paid Rs 400,000 (approx. US$ 3,267) and Rs 200,000 (approx. US$ 1,633) per month respectively.
Bangladesh have had a slow start to the year after the government decided not to send a team to the ongoing T20 World Cup. They will resume international cricket with a three-match ODI series at home against Pakistan on March 11, 13 and 15.
