“I would like to dedicate this award to all sportspersons, especially women players, who are working hard on the field.”

Speaking on the occasion, he congratulated Indian team captain Suryakumar Yadav and head coach Gautam Gambhir. Recently India national cricket team defeated New Zealand national cricket team in the final of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 to win the title for the second time in a row and set the precedent of winning this trophy for the first time on their own soil.

“I congratulate Suryakumar, Gautam Gambhir and all the players of Team India. Also congratulations to South Africa and England who have not lost a match till the knockout stage. And also to the finalists New Zealand for their outstanding performance,” said Jai Shah.

He also said that since he took over as the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2019, there has been great success in Indian cricket.

During this period, India won two U-19 Men’s World Cups, two U-19 Women’s World Cups, finished runners-up in the ICC World Test Championship final once, runners-up in the ICC Cricket World Cup once, won two consecutive T20 World Cups and won the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

“I have been following cricket since 1998 and have been associated with cricket as an administrator since 2009. Just as Australia once stood for victory, today Team India standing on that spot stands for victory—that is the reality now,” said Jai Shah.

In the end, he urged the captain Suryakumar Yadav to continue the team’s success by working hard in the future as well
