Benefits of Millets: Amidst the changing lifestyle and increasing diseases, people are again returning to traditional food. Coarse grains like jowar, bajra, ragi and kodo i.e. millets have now moved out of the villages and have reached the plates and restaurant menus of the cities. Dr. Shekhar Vaish, Superintendent of Manikpur Community Health Center said that the consumption of millets is not limited to any particular season. These can be eaten throughout the year. They are rich in fiber which strengthens the digestive system and helps in controlling blood sugar. Apart from this, millets also contain iron, calcium and essential minerals which make the body strong. According to experts, regular consumption keeps weight under control and also reduces the risk of many diseases.
