Ind vs Eng: Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Hussain Dalwai demanded that the T20 World Cup final be held in Mumbai.
Calcutta : It has been seen time and again in recent times that important matches or finals of any major tournament are held at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It was there that the Indian team lost the ODI World Cup final to Australia. This time in the T20 World Cup, the Indian team lost to South Africa in the Super Eight match on the same ground.
After India lost that match, many made a strange claim on social media. Many people were saying that Narendra Modi Stadium is not suitable for the Indian team. Playing there means India must lose! This time, the senior Congress leader echoed the same tone.
Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Hussain Dalwai before the semi-final between India and England in the T20 World Cup. He suggested on Wednesday that the final of the tournament should be held in Mumbai instead of Ahmedabad.
Dalwai said Mumbai is the “real home” of cricket and the city should have the right to host the final match. “The plan is to hold the final in Ahmedabad. The semi-final should be held there, and the final should be held in Mumbai,” he said.
Taking a dig at the Prime Minister, the Congress leader added, “Unfortunate Modiji. We lost there once, do we need to repeat that experience again?” Meanwhile, India will face England tomorrow in the crucial semi-final. Fans across the country are looking forward to this high-voltage match. Among them, such a demand of the Congress leader has created an uproar. Social media is again busy discussing this before the semi-final fight.
