Are China-US relations improving due to trade?
He described business as the biggest sign of warmth in relations. Trump said that China is now buying more agricultural products from America, especially soybeans. He said, ‘Look how much agricultural products they are buying now. Our farmers are happy with this and I am also happy with this. According to Trump, this purchase is a big relief for American farmers and also a sign of return of trust between the two countries. Trump also praised Xi Jinping personally. He described him as ‘a wonderful person’ and also had good things to say about his wife. It is clear that Trump is once again trying to improve relations through personal diplomacy.
How are the relations between America and China?
His statements present the clearest timeline yet for US-China relations. China visit in April and Xi Jinping’s visit to America at the end of the year. Both the incidents will happen at a time when tensions between the two countries regarding trade, technology and security have increased significantly in the last year. However, despite these tensions, both the countries are maintaining economic cooperation. China still remains America’s biggest market, especially in the fields of agriculture and energy. The purchase of soybean is often considered a sign of improving political relations. This week, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun also said that US-China relations have had ups and downs in the past year, but overall they have remained stable.
