The US Supreme Court canceled Donald Trump’s tariff decision, after which he announced the imposition of 10 percent global tariff under Section 122. In the press conference, Trump maintained that the trade agreement with India remains intact. He praised PM Modi and also claimed to stop India-Pakistan tension.

Trump praised PM Modi
Trump openly praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that Modi is a strong and smart leader. According to him, when trade talks were going on with America, Modi strongly advocated keeping the interests of his country in mind. Trump also said that now the situation is not the same as before and the trade balance has changed. Along with this, Trump claimed that he stopped 8 wars, which also included tension between India and Pakistan. He said that the situation between the two countries had become so serious that the matter could have reached a nuclear confrontation, but his initiative brought the situation under control. Trump also said that the Prime Minister of Pakistan, while thanking him in the Board of Peace meeting, said that due to timely intervention, the lives of 3.5 crore people could be saved. However, India has rejected Trump’s claims.
Agreement with India after ups and downs in relations
Recently, America had imposed an additional tariff of 25 percent on India’s purchase of cheap oil from Russia. Due to this the total tariff reached 50 percent. But after a few days, an interim trade agreement was signed between the two countries, after which the tariff was reduced to 18 percent. On behalf of the US administration, it was said that India has committed to stop importing oil from Russia directly or indirectly and has also talked about purchasing American energy products in future.
What did Trump say to Russia on oil?
Trump claimed that India ‘significantly reduced’ oil purchases from Russia on his request. He said that there is a terrible war going on in the world, in which thousands of people are being killed every month, and America wants this conflict to end. However, there has been no official response from India on this claim.
Trump gets a shock from the court
Meanwhile, the US Supreme Court has declared Trump’s earlier comprehensive tariff policy illegal. The court said that the President does not have the right to unilaterally impose blanket tariffs on all countries. Despite this, Trump has made a new announcement and announced to impose 10 percent global tariff under Section 122, which can remain in force for 150 days. After this, Congress’s approval will be necessary to continue it.
