Greenland or Canada 51st State of US: If US President Donald Trump has his way, all the mineral and oil rich countries can be made a part of America. At present his eyes were on Greenland, but now he is threatening the Prime Minister of Canada. He has already expressed his desire that Canada become a part of America.

Greenland or Canada? Who is the 51st state of America, suspense increased due to Trump's messageDonald Trump’s eyes on two places.

Washington: The turmoil in American politics has once again intensified. The recent message of former President Donald Trump has sparked a new debate at the international level. So is America thinking about creating its 51st state? And if this happens, who will be the contender – Greenland or Canada? Trump’s statement may not have taken the form of formal policy, but his words have fueled strategic, geopolitical and diplomatic discussions.

Donald Trump has already given a statement regarding Greenland and has described it as strategically important for America. Now once again his message has indicated that America’s interest in the Arctic region has not diminished. However, this time Canada has become their target. We are saying this because they have escalated the matter by calling the PM there as ‘Governor’.

Why did Canada’s name come up?

The mention of Canada’s name is more shocking. Especially that Trump called PM Mark Carney a ‘governor’ while threatening 100 percent tariff. This simply means that he was addressing Canada as a state of America. Some people are seeing Trump’s statement as political satire or a pressure tactic. US-Canada relations have been historically strong, but no compromise on the question of sovereignty seems possible. Canadian leaders have also in the past called such signals unrealistic and unacceptable. However, even during the tenure of previous PM Justin Trudeau

Is this just rhetoric?

Experts believe that this is mostly political messaging and politics of strategic pressure. It is not possible for America to add a new state just by making a statement. This requires a complex constitutional process, public opinion and international consensus.

Trump wants to capture Greenland also

Greenland is geographically located in the Arctic region and is on the radar of global powers due to its rare minerals, strategic sea routes and military importance. Melting of ice in the Arctic due to climate change is opening up new shipping routes, which has further increased the importance of this area. America already has a military presence there, so Trump supporters believe that Greenland could be a natural fit for America’s interests. However, the local administrations of Denmark and Greenland have clearly rejected any such idea. The dispute between America and Europe also increased regarding this.

For now, Trump’s new message once again shows that America’s ambitions on the global stage and the growing importance of the Arctic can shape future politics. Whether the 51st state is formed or not, but this kind of debate is definitely creating a stir in international politics.
