This disease occurs when abnormal electrical signals suddenly start forming in the brain cells. Due to this, the person may get tremors, may become unconscious, the body may become stiff or the person may become unaware of the things around him for some time. Not every epileptic attack is the same. Some seizures are very mild while some can be more serious. Due to epilepsy, people start having frequent seizures and in such a situation it is very important to get proper treatment.

According to the doctor, there can be many reasons for epilepsy. Serious head injury, brain damage at birth, brain infection, tumor, stroke, high fever or genetic reasons can cause this. In many cases, no clear cause of epilepsy can be found. However, its treatment is effective in all cases. To identify epilepsy, the patient’s medical history, symptoms of seizures and some tests are done. This may include electroencephalogram (EEG), MRI and CT scan. Proper testing can reveal what type of seizures they are and what could be their cause.

People often have a question whether epilepsy can be completely cured? On this question, the doctor said that epilepsy is usually treated through medicines. By taking proper medicine, the seizures of most epilepsy patients stop completely or are controlled to a great extent. In some serious cases, surgery or vagus nerve stimulation is also advised. It is necessary to undergo treatment under doctor’s supervision for a long time. Medicines of many patients are stopped after a few years, while some people have to take medicines throughout their life to control the disease.
