Arjuna Award winning former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has been appointed as the brand ambassador for the first edition of Delhi Khel Mahakumbh. This great sports competition is being organized by the Education and Sports Department of Delhi Government. The main objective of this program is to promote sports at the grass root level and to find new talent.

Shikhar Dhawan is one of the most popular sports personalities in India. In his long cricket career, he not only achieved success on the field, but also became an inspiration to the younger generation. Even after retiring from playing, he has been actively associated with the world of sports. Through his initiative ‘Da One Sports’ he is playing an important role in training and creating opportunities for future sportspersons.

Delhi Khel Mahakumbh is planned as a multi-sports arena. Athletes from school and community level will get an opportunity to participate in this competition. Through this, they will gain competitive experience and get an opportunity to advance in the professional sports career. One of the objectives of this initiative is to link sports with youth development and education.

Speaking on the occasion, Delhi Education and Sports Minister Ashish Sood said, Delhi Khel Mahakumbh is an important and transformative initiative in talent discovery and sports development. He hoped that the addition of Shikhar Dhawan as a brand ambassador would make the program more credible and inspiring.

Expressing his feelings, Shikhar Dhawan said, he is very proud to receive this honor. He said that there are many talented youngsters in Delhi who need the right opportunity and platform. Delhi Khel Mahakumbh will provide that opportunity. The competition is going to start from February 13 in 16 venues of the capital, where thousands of youngsters will participate in various sports like basketball, football, athletics, kabaddi, wrestling, squash and volleyball.
