As a result, thousands of Indian passengers are stranded in these Gulf cities. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has come into action to facilitate the return of stranded passengers to their country. In view of the current situation, airlines have been asked to work with extra capacity, so that passengers can return home in a safe and smooth manner.

According to a senior official of the ministry, Indian missions are in constant touch with foreign aviation authorities and are working closely with them to safely bring back the passengers stranded in the Gulf. He said that on March 3, a total of 24 special flights were operated by Indian airlines carriers. Apart from this, Emirates and Etihad have operated 9 flights from Gulf to India in the last 24 hours. Those passengers who had already booked their tickets have been brought back from these special flights.

What is today’s special flights operation plan?

  1. According to the ministry, Indian airlines are planning to operate 58 special flights on March 4.
  2. These 59 special flights include 30 flights of Indigo, 23 flights of Air India and Air India Express.
  3. Apart from this, foreign carriers operating between India and the Gulf region are also doing limited operations.
  4. Indian airlines have shifted their long-haul and ultra long-haul flight operations to other routes.
  5. Due to change in routes, Indian Airlines has also made some changes in its schedule.

The Civil Aviation Ministry is continuously monitoring the changing conditions of airspace in parts of West Asia and its impact on international flight operations. Due to the current situation, so far 1221 flights of Indian airlines and 388 flights of foreign airlines have been cancelled.
