Disadvantages of Kajal: Kajal, which once used to protect children from getting blind spots, is now becoming dangerous itself. Complaints of irritation, swelling and infection have increased after applying kajal in the eyes of children. Local 18 talked to Jaunpur’s pediatrician Dr. Gunjan Patel about this. She tells that most of the kajal is not pure. It contains chemicals, carbon, lead and other harmful elements. Even a little of these chemicals reaching the eyes is fatal. Dr. Gunjan tells that do not apply any kind of kajal in the eyes of children below one year of age.
Jaunpur. There was a time when grandmothers considered it auspicious to apply kajal on children’s eyes. It was believed that it prevents eyestrain and makes the eyes beautiful, but in the changing times, the same kajal is now becoming a threat to the health of children. In recent times, many such cases have come to light in Jaunpur, in which complaints of irritation, swelling and infection have increased after applying kajal in the eyes of children. Talking to Local 18, Jaunpur’s pediatrician Dr. Gunjan Patel says that most of the kajal available in the market these days is not pure. It contains chemicals, carbon, lead and other harmful elements, which can prove to be extremely dangerous for the delicate eyes of children. The skin of the eyes of newborns and small children is very sensitive, so if even a little chemical reaches the eyes, it can cause serious problems.
if necessary
According to Dr. Gunjan Patel, due to application of kajal, problems like watering of eyes, constant rubbing of eyes, redness, itching and swelling are being seen in children. In many cases, eye infection increases so much that children require medicines and drops. There is a risk of damage to the cornea and weakening of vision by applying kajal for a long time. Dr. Gunjan tells that do not apply any kind of kajal in the eyes of children, especially children below one year of age. If for some reason you feel it necessary to apply kajal, then avoid commercial kajal completely.
This is more important than tradition
According to Dr. Gunjan, kajal can cause problems like allergy, bacterial infection, swelling in the veins of the eyes, boils on the eyelids and frequent watering of the eyes. Scientific thinking is more important than tradition for protecting children’s eyes. Any experiment with children’s health can prove dangerous. Use only clean cloth and boiled cold water to clean the eyes. If you notice any kind of irritation or redness, contact the doctor immediately.
