Iron-Protein Rich Easy Breakfast: Morning breakfast has a different style, especially in the tribal and rural areas of Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. Neither avocado toast nor bread and peas works here. Rather, people eat breakfast which is rich in protein and iron, is cheap and also makes the body strong. The taste is also spicy and desi.

Neeraj, a resident of Cambo village of Ranchi, says that they do not eat expensive or modern breakfast every day. He says that even if money is less, the body still needs protein and iron. Therefore, they soak black gram at night and take out a bowl of swollen gram in the morning.

Neeraj tells that add a handful of lightly roasted peanuts to soaked black gram. There is no need to remove the peel of peanuts. After this add some mustard oil.

Just as some people use olive oil, mustard oil is also useful here. Then add some lemon juice, black salt, chaat masala, chopped onion, tomato and some cucumber and mix it well.

Here, simple but nutritious breakfast is ready. It keeps the stomach full for a long time. Both gram and peanuts contain good amount of fiber, which helps in not feeling hungry quickly. Besides, it is rich in protein and iron, which gives strength to the body and also keeps the weight balanced.

Neeraj says that this breakfast makes the body strong. There is no problem of weight gain because it is low in calories and bad fats, while good fats and nutrients are in sufficient quantity. That’s why they call it their local protein breakfast. It is also very easy to make and after eating it in the morning, one feels energetic throughout the day.
