Devendra Sen/Kota. The changing weather around Holi can take a toll on the health of small children. Due to mild heat during the day and cold in the morning and evening, cases of cold, cough and pneumonia start increasing. Ayurveda experts say that a little carelessness at this time can push children towards serious diseases.

Ayurveda doctor Magendra Joshi told that the weather changes rapidly around Holi. It remains mildly hot during the day and cold in the morning and evening. In such weather, small children are most at risk because their immune system is not fully developed. Many parents assume that the cold ends by Holi and make their children wear light clothes or start giving them cold things. This carelessness later causes problems like cold, cough, pneumonia and asthma.

Allergies and respiratory problems increase
He told that the problem of allergy also increases with the changing weather. Due to dust, pollen and temperature fluctuations, children often suffer from cold, runny nose, cough or chest congestion. Many children need a nebulizer every year during seasonal changes. In such a situation, it is not appropriate to depend only on medicines that provide temporary relief, rather it is necessary to strengthen the immunity of children.

Pay attention to natural balance and diet
According to Magendra Joshi, first of all it is necessary to create harmony with the natural conditions. Dress children according to the weather and protect them from cold wind in the morning and evening. Minimize the consumption of cold, stale and refrigerated items. Food should be light, fresh and easily digestible. Adequate sleep and regular routine are also important.

Home remedies can provide relief
He told that by adding a pinch of turmeric and a little black pepper to the milk, it can be boiled and lukewarm milk can be given to children. This strengthens the throat and lungs. During cold days, heat some celery in mustard oil, filter it and massage it lightly on the chest, back and neck. Liquorice powder can also be given in small quantities as per medical advice. However, in extreme heat, garlic garlands or remedies of extremely hot nature should be avoided.

It is important to increase immunity
He said that children who suffer from frequent cough, allergies or asthma should be given immunity boosting medicines regularly after consulting an Ayurvedic doctor. Chyawanprash, Amla juice and other Ayurvedic preparations can be helpful in increasing immunity.

If serious symptoms appear, seek medical advice immediately
If the child shows high fever, difficulty in breathing, chest pain or symptoms of pneumonia, a specialist doctor should be contacted immediately. If necessary, take nebulizer or other medicines only after consulting the doctor and do not stop without consultation. Children can be protected from serious diseases by being careful in the changing weather, balanced diet, adequate sleep and regular care. Parents’ awareness is the biggest safeguard for children’s health.
