But now this game is unknown to the new generation. With the aim of improving the football of Bengal and the country, foot tennis game is again organized in Howrah. To encourage the new generation, players above the age of 50 took to the field. Foot tennis practice was held for three months in different fields of Howrah. The foot tennis match of the final stage of the competition was held at Shivpur Beltala Spotting Club.
Various playgrounds in the city were occupied by this game. At that time foottennis was popular among the youth of Howrah. Bengal’s Dikpal footballers have also played a great role in this game once. According to the experts, this small ball is in control of the feet. That player is stronger on the football field.
A game aimed at a very small ball. Many people think that practicing foot tennis gives additional benefits to playing football. So at one time foot tennis was very popular in the villages and towns of Howrah district. For the past three decades, foot tennis has completely stopped playing.
In keeping with the old tradition of Howrah, Shivpur Beltala Porting Club organized a ‘Foot Tennis’ competition for about three months by inviting the star foot tennis players of the district. After last year, this time also organized a competition to honor the players by bringing them together. Players over 50, who were young at the time, took to the field. Now seniors, they hit the ground running. Some are 65, some are 70, some are 72.
Foot tennis has been lost to time. A game almost unknown to today’s childhood. To bring the game back, veterans have taken a special initiative to encourage the next generation. For the first time last year, the competition was held for three months in different fields of Howrah city. The popularity is much higher in the second year. In this context, one of the members of Shivpur Beltala Spotting Club, Atanu Sengupta, said that the main goal is to encourage the new generation in this game by honoring the veteran players.
