Bangladesh sports adviser Asif Nazrul said on Tuesday that if the ICC “yields to pressure” from the BCCI and imposes unreasonable conditions on the Bangladesh Cricket Board, the country will not accept those conditions.

But he rubbished rumors that Scotland would play the World Cup instead of Bangladesh, saying the team was refusing to play in India due to security concerns and had urged the ICC to move their matches to Sri Lanka.

Last week, the BCB held talks with ICC officials in Dhaka to resolve the impasse, but no resolution was reached. After the exclusion of Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL, the board started increasing the distance with the BCCI. According to a report by Cricbuzz, the ICC has given a deadline of January 21 to resolve the matter, as they are running out of time. If Scotland plays instead of Bangladesh then they will have to give at least 15 days preparation time.

Asif Nazrul said, “I don’t know if Scotland will be included in our place (in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup). If the ICC gives in to the pressure of the Indian Cricket Board and imposes unreasonable conditions on us, we will not accept those conditions”.

Referring to Pakistan, he said, “Earlier there were instances where Pakistan said they will not go to India and Asisi changed the venue. We have requested a change of venue for reasonable reasons and we cannot be forced to play in India by putting undue pressure on us.”
