Imran Khan is known as a bright personality in world cricket. He played 88 Tests and 175 ODIs for Pakistan from June 1971 to March 1992.

Imran Khan led Pakistan to ODI World Cup victory in 1992. Under his leadership, Pakistan won the trophy by defeating England by 22 runs at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 25 March 1992.
Imran led Pakistan in 48 Test matches from 1982 to 1992 and achieved 14 victories. Only Misbah-ul-Haq (26 wins in 56 Tests) has played and won more as Pakistan captain.
Imran is Pakistan’s most successful ODI captain. Under his leadership, Pakistan played 139 ODIs from 1982 to 1992 and achieved 75 victories.
Imran holds the world record for most wickets as captain in Tests. He dismissed 187 batsmen in 48 Tests as Pakistan captain. Pat Cummins is second, having taken 151 wickets in 38 Tests as Australia’s captain.
Imran is the only Pakistani captain to score 1000 runs and take 100 wickets in Tests.
Imran Khan holds the record for most runs in ODIs as a Pakistan captain. He scored a total of 3,247 runs in 139 matches. Second on the list is Misbah-ul-Haq, with 3,003 runs in 87 ODIs.
Imran holds the record for most wickets in a Test series as a captain. In the 1982–83 Pakistan Test series against India, he took 40 wickets in 6 matches.
In ODIs, Imran dismissed 131 batsmen in 139 matches. Only Wasim Akram (158) and Shaun Pollock (134) have taken more wickets as Pakistan captains in this format.
Imran tops the list of most wickets taken by Asian bowlers in Test series. He dismissed 40 Indian batsmen in the 1982-83 series in Pakistan. He is the only cricketer from Asia to take 40 or more wickets in a Test series.
Imran Khan led Pakistan to first-ever Test series wins in India and England. In 1987, under his leadership, Pakistan won the five-match series against India by 1-0 and also defeated England by the same margin in the five-match series.
Imran won 8 “Player of the Series” awards in Tests, the most by any Pakistani player. Imran Khan promoted the use of neutral umpires in Test cricket and even invited two Indian umpires for the Pakistan-West Indies series in 1986. It was opposed by many at the time, but in 1994 the ICC finally formalized the appointment of neutral umpires.
