Kolkata: The T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan is scheduled to start from 7 pm today. Before that, Indian girls gave big news. India ‘A’ defeated Pakistan ‘A’ by eight wickets in Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament. Pakistan ‘A’ team came under pressure in the sixth match of the tournament held at Tardthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok.

Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first. But the Indian ‘A’-team bowlers put up a brilliant performance and ended their innings for just 93 runs. In reply, India chased down the short target of just 61 balls. Brinda Sharma played an important role in the victory by batting unbeaten on 55 runs.

It was the first win in the tournament for the Indian ‘A’ women’s team. Earlier in the first match they lost to the UAE women’s team by seven wickets. After the win against Pakistan ‘A’, India moved up to second place behind UAE in Group ‘A’.

The Indian ‘A’-team spinners bowled perfect line-lengths to share five wickets between them and keep Pakistan under pressure. Pakistan were all out for just 93 runs in 18.5 overs. Radha led the way with 11 runs in three overs with two wickets. Prema Rawat took two wickets with 16 runs in three overs, while Minnu Mani took one wicket with 10 runs in 2.5 overs. Pacer Saima Thakur broke the opponent’s batting line by taking two wickets with just 14 runs in four overs.

Chasing an easy target of 94 runs, India were struck by the dismissal of Humaira Kazi on the first ball. But Brinda turned the game around with a great counter attack. He scored an unbeaten 55 off 29 balls with 12 fours.

Brinda gets good company from Anushka Sharma. Anushka played an innings of 24 runs off 26 balls and made a partnership of 78 runs for the second wicket. After Anushka’s dismissal, Tejal Hasbanis scored an unbeaten 12 off five balls with a six and a four to give the team victory in just 10.1 overs.
