After winning the World Cup in the Caribbean in 2024, Jitesh was a regular in India’s T20 squad. However, despite getting limited opportunities, he could not prove himself in that way. On the other hand, after being out of the national team for a long time, Ishan Kishan got a place in the team after performing brilliantly in domestic cricket.

Jitesh was initially disappointed to hear the news of not getting a place in the World Cup team. He said, losing the opportunity to play for the country in such a big competition is difficult for any cricketer. Yet he gradually overcame that disappointment. Jitesh said, “After receiving the news, I was a bit devastated. I am human, so naturally I was upset. But over time I got over it with the support of family and friends.”

It was at this time that more sad news came in his life. Jitesh’s father fell ill and died on 1 February. Jitesh stayed by his father’s side during his illness and took care of him for seven consecutive days. Said, “My father fell ill and died on February 1. I stayed with him for seven days. Later, I realized that my father needed me more than the World Cup. So I have no regrets. I am grateful to God for being by my father’s last hour.”
