Trump’s minister speaks on India-US trade deal

Washington: Due to India’s growing stature in geopolitics, many countries are feeling internally irritated. Meanwhile, the fear inside America has also started coming out, recently American Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau has said such a thing, which everyone was surprised to hear. He came to the ‘Raisina Dialogue’ held in New Delhi and said that he will not repeat China’s mistake with India. Don’t know Christopher why it seems that the decision of which country will progress and how much will be made is in the hands of America. His words have fueled a new debate.

What did Trump’s minister say on India-US trade deal?

The words of US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau in the ‘Raisina Dialogue’ held in New Delhi clearly show how scared America is of India’s growing power. He has said that America no longer wants to repeat the mistake it made with China 20 years ago. According to Landau, by giving concessions to China, America gave it a chance to flourish, but in the case of India, they are adamant on the policy of ‘America First’. His statement is proof that India is now playing on its own terms at the world table and America is struggling to save its reputation.

What is China’s mistake?

The American official said in an arrogant tone that they want to make a trade deal with India, but not with their eyes closed. Landau was referring to the period when America allowed China to open its markets and later China overtook them by entering their own markets. Now America says that they will not give similar ‘freedom’ to India which would cause loss to American companies and the people there.

America is well aware that India is now the world’s most populous country and has unmatched human resources. Landau acknowledged that India is a crucial partner. That means they will have to accept that India will decide the future of trade deals.

India’s progress increases America’s fear

It is clear from Lando’s statement that America is now looking at India as an equal partner, who can surpass it. Now the trade deal between America and India will be finalized keeping in mind the benefits of both the countries. America’s bullying will not help in that.

This ‘Bilateral Trade Agreement’ (BTA) between India and America is not just a piece of paper, but it will decide the direction of the future. America is definitely scared, but it considers it both a compulsion and a necessity to move together with India. Now it remains to be seen who will have the upper hand when this deal is finalised.
