Deepanvesh Das, who has been involved in sports since childhood, is currently an international level sabha player. He has several national and international awards. However, he did not want to stop at his own success. His aim was to bring this unknown sport to the common people and connect the new generation with it. With that aim, he has been promoting Sabat in Burdwan district for a long time.

This effort was seen in reality recently. Inter District Savate (French Kick Boxing) Championship 2026 is being organized for the first time in Burdwan city. About 100 contestants from different districts of the state participated in this competition. Watching the fight, speed and strategy of the players also created great enthusiasm among the spectators.

According to the organizers, this competition is not just a tournament, but an important step in the preparation and selection of players for the state level competition. There were prizes for first, second and third place in each category. It is from here that talented players are identified for the future big stage.

Burdwan Municipality Chairman Paresh Chandra Sarkar praised the championship organized by Savate Association of Burdwan and in collaboration with a foundation. He said, the effort to establish this new sport in Burdwan is really commendable. On the other hand, the secretary of the association Dipanvesh Das said that there are plans to expand this game on a larger scale in the future. An unknown game is weaving new dreams on the soil of a known city today.
