Washington: There is a war going on between Iran and America. America is continuously attacking Iran from its military bases built in Gulf countries. There is a distance of thousands of kilometers between America and Iran, so Iran is not able to directly attack American soil. In response, Iran is attacking America’s military bases and Israel with missiles and drones. Meanwhile, the American investigative agency FBI has issued a warning. It has been said that there may be a sudden attempt to carry out a drone attack in California. According to the report of news agency Reuters, before the war started, in early February, the FBI had alerted the security agencies about a possible drone attack in California. However, the White House has not considered this FBI warning very serious. White House Press Secretary Carolyn Levitt said that this alert was based only on an unconfirmed information. Despite this, the question arises that even if Iran wants to, how can it carry out a drone attack on American soil?
Why is it difficult to launch a direct drone attack from Iran?
- The biggest problem for Iran in directly attacking America is distance. There is a distance of about 11,000 kilometers between America and Iran. California is on the west coast of America, so the distance there is about 12,500 kilometers.
- present near Iran most powerful attack drone Can also fly only for about 2,000 kilometers. In such a situation, any drone launched directly from Iran cannot reach America. For this reason, the question arises why the FBI is alert about the possibility of an attack on American soil.
How can Iran attack America with drones?
- Drone attack from sea: The FBI’s warning also states that drones can be launched from an unknown ship. This ship can come close to the west coast of America and attack with drones. Drones like Shahed-136 can be used in such attacks, which are known for sudden attacks. However, it will not be easy to do this, because it will be a big challenge for the ship to come this far to escape the surveillance of the US Navy. Besides, America’s air defense systems will also stop such drones.
- Attack from Mexico border: Another possibility is also being told that Iran may try to launch a drone attack through the Mexico border or South America. It is believed that Iran has some presence in these areas. Mexican drug cartels are already using drones. In such a situation, it is feared that Iran can deliver attacking drones through these networks. California is near the Mexico border, so an attack from there could be technically possible. John Cohen, former intelligence chief of America’s Department of Homeland Security, says that Iran has a significant presence in Mexico and South America. According to him, Iran also has drone technology and a reason to attack in case of war.
Does Iran have influence in America’s neighborhood?
According to experts, since 2005, Iran tried to increase its presence in Latin America. During the time of former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, new embassies were opened in many countries. These include Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Nicaragua and Uruguay.
Even in Mexico, Iranian diplomats have been working closely with countries like Venezuela and Cuba. However, due to changes in regional politics in recent months, Iran’s influence is being said to be reducing somewhat. At present, the US government says that there is no concrete threat of any attack from Iran inside the country.
