Former BCCI and Punjab Cricket Association president IS Bindra passes away. He breathed his last in New Delhi on Sunday.
Chandigarh: Former BCCI and Punjab Cricket Association president Indrajit Singh Bindra alias IS Bindra has passed away. He breathed his last in New Delhi on Sunday. Bindra was suffering from senility for a long time. He was 84 years old at the time of his death. ICC Chairman Jai Shah announced Bindra’s death. Former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Indrajit Singh Bindra breathed his last on Sunday, January 25. At the age of 84, he passed into the land of eternal sleep. As soon as this news came to light, a shadow of mourning fell on Indian cricket. International Cricket Council Chairman Jai Shah expressed deep grief over the incident. He has already made an emotional post on social media. Bindra’s contribution to Indian cricket is undeniable.
Jai Shah wrote on his X handle, “Deeply saddened by the demise of IS Bindra, former BCCI president and a pillar of Indian cricket administration. Hope future generations will follow in his path.”
Bindra was the president of the Punjab Cricket Association from 1978 to 2014. He played a major role behind the development of Punjab cricket. It was during his time that the Mohali Cricket Stadium was built. In 2015, the name of the stadium was changed to IS Bindra Stadium. The 1987 and 1996 World Cups were hosted in India. And in this arrangement, IS Bindra joined hands with Jagmohan Dalmiya and took important responsibility. He worked hard to arrange both these World Cups in India.
Bindra served as the BCCI president from 1993 to 1996. IS Bindra played a significant role in the development of domestic cricket and India’s prominence in world cricket.
