Jashanpreet Singh was one of those Indian youth in America who jumped into the bike culture on the streets of California. While living in the American city of Stockton, he formed a motorcycle club named Punjabi Devils, which was inspired by Punjabi-Sikh identity. The club members would often visit Gurudwaras and do charity rides, but internally it was an outlaw gang that did not follow rules and regulations and was influenced by bigger gangs like the Hells Angels. The logo of this gang was a picture of a bearded devil wearing a Punjabi cap. Punjabi Devils used to organize bike rallies, meetings and organize members. But soon the club got entangled in illegal activities. In June 2025, Jashanpreet Singh was accused of trying to sell weapons to an undercover officer and was arrested at the airport while fleeing to India.
The story of Jashanpreet Singh started from a small biker club and emerged as a big smuggler of illegal weapons. Later, while trying to escape to India, she reached an American jail. This person not only formed his gang on American soil, but also got involved in the black business of smuggling of dangerous weapons and deadly explosives. Who is Jashanpreet Singh, the founder of ‘Punjabi Devils’?
According to US Attorney Eric Grant, Jashanpreet Singh has pleaded guilty to serious charges of arms trafficking and possession of a machine gun. This case is not only related to arms smuggling, but also involves the filmy story of a failed attempt to escape internationally.
Jashanpreet Singh laid the foundation of ‘Punjabi Devils’ Motorcycle Club in Stockton city of California. According to the investigating agencies, this was not an ordinary bikers group, rather it was an ‘outlaw’ i.e. law-abiding gang, whose connections are said to be with the world’s most dangerous bike gang ‘Hells Angels’. Jashanpreet was the main face of this gang and through this he had made inroads into the world of underworld and arms smuggling.
Jashanpreet is only 27 years old, but the scope of his criminal activities was very large. He had become a main link in supplying illegal weapons to Stockton and surrounding areas.
Recovery of arms cache and ‘Claymore’ mine
The story of Jashanpreet’s arrest starts from June 2025. On June 6, 2025, Jashanpreet tried to sell several dangerous weapons to an undercover agent (disguised police officer). These included one short-barreled rifle, three assault weapons, three machine gun conversion devices and one revolver.
When the police searched his house and car, the officers were also stunned. Not only were machine guns and silencers found there, but the police also found a ‘pineapple’ style hand grenade and a military grade ‘claymore’ mine. Claymore mine is an explosive which is used by the army on the battlefield. Considering its seriousness, the bomb disposal team of the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department destroyed these explosives on the spot.
Failed attempt to escape to India and drama at the airport
In July 2025, when state level charges were framed against Jashanpreet, he did not appear in the court. After this an arrest warrant was issued against him. Jashanpreet knew that he was trapped, so he made a plan to leave America and escape to India.
On July 23, 2025, the FBI received an alert from US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that Jashanpreet had booked a ticket to India and was scheduled to fly from San Francisco International Airport on July 26. But before he could escape by boarding the plane, the authorities caught him at the airport itself. He has been in federal custody since then.
How many years will he be jailed for?
The date of sentencing of Jashanpreet Singh has been fixed for May 11, 2026. US District Judge Dale A. Drozd will sentence him. Jashanpreet could face heavy punishment for two separate crimes:
- For illegal arms dealing: Maximum 5 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
- Possession of a machine gun: Maximum 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
- Overall, Jashanpreet could face up to 15 years in prison, although the final sentence will depend on the court’s discretion and federal sentencing guidelines.
