Raju Singh, Jhargram: Again the success of archers of Bengal at the national level, two daughters of Jangalmahal achieved success from Bengal Archery Academy, Jhargram, Jangalmahal. They won a silver medal in the girls’ compound team event at the 69th National School Games 2025–26. Some archery competitors from Bengal participated in the National School Games Archery Championship. Among them, four people from Jhargram participated in the competition.

Bidisha Roy and Pew Roy participated in the compound round. They advanced to the final round and won the silver medal in the team event.

The officials of the archery academy claim that the role and proper training of the coaches of Bengal has been successful in the national level competition. Currently Surjit Das, Sauvik Dey and Kriti Kurmi are playing the role of coaches. Bengali archers are consistently doing well not only this time but at the national level. Jhargram District Magistrate Akanksha Bhaskar also congratulated the contestants and trainers of Bengal Archery Academy, Jhargram. He said, this pride is not only of Jhargram but of whole Bengal.

Bengal coach Surjit Das said, again we got success on the domestic stage, in the coming days we will train in this way so that Bengal’s standards are raised to the highest level.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took the initiative to set up this academy first in the state. This academy has been set up for talented archers on the land adjacent to Ghoradhara Stadium in Jhargram. As many of the residents of Jangalmahal are skilled in archery, the Chief Minister of the state ordered to build this academy keeping in mind their skills. Since its inception, the academy has attracted the attention of many contestants by participating in various competitions. Archers trained in this academy have won gold, silver and bronze medals by participating in national and international competitions.
