Former Indian cricketer and selector Sandeep Patil has clarified that Dhoni had no role in Yuvraj’s exclusion from the team at any stage of his career. Sandeep Patil was the chief selector of the Indian team for four years “Not even once – not in any election meeting, not on tour, not during a match,” was Sandeep Patil’s blunt reply when asked if Mahendra Singh Dhoni had requested Yuvraj Singh’s exclusion? He added, “I am on record speaking for Dhoni.” Explaining Dhoni’s role behind Yuvraj Singh’s exclusion, Patil said on YouTube channel The Vicky Lalwani Show. Kare Patil said, “He had full faith in the selection committee. He didn’t say anything.”

Yuvraj Singh’s father and former cricketer Yograj Singh has repeatedly said that Dhoni ruined his son’s career. In a recent interview, Yogaraj expressed his admiration for Dhoni. He blamed Dhoni for dropping his son Yuvraj from the Indian team, insisting that the act was unforgivable and publicly questioned Dhoni’s role in the decision.

“I will not forgive MS Dhoni. He should look at himself in the mirror. He is a great cricketer, I salute him. But what he did to my son is unforgivable,” he said. Everything is coming out now, and it will never be forgiven.” He added, “That guy ruined my son’s life, who could have played for another four-five years… There will never be another Yuvraj Singh.”
