The ICC has issued a press release confirming that no action will be taken against Bangladesh despite its withdrawal from the T20 World Cup 2026. The ICC has made it clear that no sanctions or fines will be imposed on the Bangladesh Cricket Board.

In the context of Bangladesh’s absence from the ICC T20 World Cup, the world cricket’s highest governing body considered Bangladesh’s rich cricketing history and important role in the development of cricket. ICC has honored Bangladesh Cricket Team (BCB) as a full member.

Also, ICC has stated that Bangladesh is the most vibrant cricket-enthusiastic country in the world. There are more than 2 crore passionate fans. Keeping in mind their consistent efforts in the development of cricket. As a result, the ICC has asked that there should be no long-term negative impact on cricket in the country even if Bangladesh does not participate in the T20 World Cup.

No financial, sporting or administrative penalty shall be imposed on the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). It has also been decided that Bangladesh will host one of the ICC events before the 2031 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
