North 24 Parganas, Rudra Narayan Roy: Bengal panja competition was held in the district, 250 contestants from 16 districts took part. The 23rd Bengal Panja Competition was held at Barasat Evening College. A joint initiative of Evening College and State Arm Wrestling Association, many competitors from different parts of the state participated in this competition.
According to the organizers, about 250 contestants from 16 districts participated in this competition. Competitors from different districts including Murshidabad, Malda, Cooch Behar, Uttar Dinajpur, Jalpaiguri appeared at Barasat Evening College on this day and demonstrated their skills in panja fighting.
According to the organizers, this competition has been organized to spread the message of physical exercise and healthy living. Besides, as there is a national level competition ahead, the contestants of Bengal are preparing themselves more for that purpose. If they are successful at the national level, they can also get the opportunity to participate in the international competition in the future, said Smritimoy Das, secretary of the State Panja Sanstha.
