In his second term as US President, Donald Trump is running in countries around the world with his horse of Ashvamedhayagya. From Greenland to Venezuela, Trump’s policies have created an uproar. At the same time, the giant of tariff has become a problem for many countries including China and India. But what effect has this bombshell of Trump had on his countrymen? Has the public started considering him a greater leader? No, this has not happened.
The geopolitics of American President Donald Trump has created a stir all over the world. Be it attacking Venezuela and arresting President Nicolas Maduro and his wife or announcing Greenland’s merger with America or intervening in the violence in Iran, Trump is seen everywhere with his stormy statements. Trump’s decisions regarding tariffs and Russian oil have affected the economic situation in many big countries including India.
Now, amidst these decisions of Donald Trump, his deepest wish has also been fulfilled. Even if it is second hand, Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado has also given him her Nobel Peace Prize. But the biggest question that arises amidst all this is that where Trump is making headlines all over the world, are the American people themselves happy with this ‘dynamic’ leader? Do they have full confidence in these decisions of their President? So the answer is no… because all this ruckus of Trump has not had even the slightest impact on his popularity.

The confidence of the American public wavered One year of President Donald Trump’s second term is about to be completed in America. AP-NORC (The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research)’s new survey for January 2026 revealed There has been no significant change in Trump’s rating. When he assumed power for the second time in March 2025, the situation was similar. This means that the people of Trump’s country, who is running around the world with his horse of Ashvamedhayagya, are not making much difference to his actions. This stability can be both a relief and a challenge for Trump.
The survey shows that the confidence of the American public has shaken on issues like inflation, immigration and foreign policy. In this survey, the public has given their rating on Trump’s report card.
Only 4 out of 10 Americans are happy It is clear in this report that Trump’s popularity graph has neither gone up nor down. This can be said to be the biggest specialty or flaw of Trump’s politics. There is not much fluctuation in his approval rating. According to this survey, only about 4 out of 10 American adults like Trump’s way of working. However, Trump’s fans know that this is an old trend. The same trend was there during his first term also. Initially 42% people were happy with him, and when he left office, the figure was still almost the same.

Don’t understand the slogan of Make America Great Again Inflation has spoiled the game because 60% people believe that Trump has increased the expenditure. This may be a matter of concern for Trump, because he has repeatedly been raising the slogan of ‘Make America Great Again’ behind the tough decisions taken on tariffs. But it seems the public is not able to realize this. This survey has revealed that 6 out of 10 Americans believe that the ‘cost of living’ has increased during Trump’s second term. Only 20% people believe that they have helped. Only 37% people are happy with Trump’s work on the economy. This is slightly better than December’s 31%, but still quite low. Although the economy was Trump’s strength in his first term, but now people are troubled by rising prices and are calling it ‘bad’.

The situation is also bad on the issue of immigration. Donald Trump came into the election with the promise of stopping illegal infiltration and strict immigration laws. But it seems that the strongest issue has now become weak. Trump’s approval rating on immigration was 49% in March, which has now fallen to 38%. The survey was conducted between January 8-11, just after the shooting of Renee Good by an ICE officer in Minnesota. About 50% of people believe that Trump has “gone too far” in terms of expelling illegal immigrants from the country. However, some Democrats believe that there has been little improvement in border security.
Has the government forgotten the promise of ‘America First’? In his second term, Trump has focused more on foreign policy than domestic issues, which is different from his election promise of “America First”. Incidents like the attempt to take control of Greenland and the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro by the military attracted discussion. 56% of Americans say that Trump has crossed the limits in using the US military in other countries. 6 out of 10 people are unhappy with his foreign policy.

This survey by AP-NORC has shown that the American public is skeptical about Trump’s priorities. More than half the public believes that the President is focused on the wrong issues, while only 20% believe that he is in the right direction. The government seems to be lagging behind on issues like economy and inflation, which directly affect the common man, whereas the government’s emphasis is more on foreign affairs.
