Padma Awards are one of the highest civilian awards of the country. It includes three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. These awards are given in various fields/activities, such as – Arts, Social Work, Science and Engineering, Trade and Industry, Medicine, Literature and Education, Sports, Civil Services etc.

Sri Kallipatti Ramasamy Palaniswami is a renowned gastroenterologist. He worked as a senior consultant at Apollo Hospital, Chennai and contributed in strengthening the gastroenterology department. He established the department of gastroenterology in Tamil Nadu and authored several research articles.

Dr. Nori Dattatreyadu is a world-renowned radiation oncologist who brought new technological methods in the radiation treatment of diseases. He developed and popularized a technique called brachytherapy, which improved the treatment of cancer patients.

Ms. Armida Fernandez is a pioneer in the field of newborn care and breastfeeding support. He established the first Human Milk Bank in India. This was the first milk bank in Asia, which saved the lives of thousands of helpless newborns. No one has taken such an initiative before.
