According to the report, Pakistan team captain Salman Ali Agha and each player of the team have been fined 5 million Pakistani rupees. The board’s displeasure started after the first round loss to India in Sri Lanka. Officials feel that it is important to punish bad players as well as reward them for playing well.

Pakistan’s centrally contracted cricketers are paid in four categories. ‘A’ category players get Rs 45 lakh per month and a share of ICC revenue, while ‘B’, ‘C’ and ‘D’ category players get progressively lower salaries and allowances. According to the board, consistent failure despite having so many benefits is not acceptable.
