Ayurvedic Medical Officer Dr. Vipin Singh told Local 18, Peepal leaves are very beneficial for the digestive system. The fiber present in them helps in providing relief from problems like gas, constipation, acidity and indigestion. Regular consumption improves intestinal cleansing and strengthens digestion. He told that its antioxidant properties are helpful in improving blood circulation, which can help in reducing the risk of heart related diseases.
According to Dr. Singh, Peepal leaves are also considered beneficial in respiratory problems like cough, cold and asthma. It is helpful in strengthening the respiratory system and helps in increasing the immunity of the body. Apart from this, it is also said to be useful in reducing skin related problems like acne, blemishes and wrinkles. When consumed properly, the skin gets a natural glow and the skin looks healthy.
Blood sugar will also remain controlled
It is also mentioned in Ayurveda that Peepal leaves can be helpful in controlling blood sugar. It is considered helpful in removing toxic elements from the body. Benefits have also been seen in some cases in problems like hormonal imbalance, PCOD and thyroid in women, although balanced and medical advice is necessary in this regard.

Peepal leaves can be used in many ways. The leaves can be boiled in water and consumed as decoction or tea. Apart from this, juice of leaves can be taken with honey. Some people also consume it by chewing 2 to 3 fresh leaves on an empty stomach in the morning. However, Dr. Vipin Singh clarified that pregnant women should not consume peepal leaves without doctor’s advice. Consuming it in excess quantity can also cause side effects, so before adopting any Ayurvedic treatment, consult a specialist.
