Indoor air pollution: When it comes to air pollution, people focus on outdoor smoke and dust. But indoor air pollution present inside homes and offices can be more dangerous. According to the World Health Organization, it can be two to five times more harmful than outdoor pollution. AMU Professor Saleha Jamal says that the main reasons for this are paint, furniture, chemical cleaners and solid fuels like wood and coal in homes. A large population in India is still dependent on solid fuel. Due to which women and small children are more affected. Carbon monoxide and fine particles present in smoke can cause serious diseases. For protection, proper ventilation, keeping windows open and use of clean fuel are necessary.
