Equestrian coach in the competition in Jordan extreme complaints! who has been appointed as coach-cum-manager of the Indian team is accused of rape The Equestrian Federation of India (EFI) has since been embroiled in fresh controversy, which has sparked outrage among various sports communities and led to an in-depth investigation by the Union Sports Ministry.
The Equestrian Federation of India has faced fresh controversy after sending an official accused of rape to Jordan as India’s coach, prompting security concerns, international backlash and a condolence notice from the Union Sports Ministry. EFI Executive Committee member Colonel (retd) Tarsem Singh Waraich has been named to lead the four-member Indian team for the International Tent Pegging Federation (ITPF) World Cup Qualifiers to be held in Jordan from January 29 to 31.
Waraich is currently on interim bail till March 2026 in a case of rape and sexual harassment filed by two female students of an army family in Sonepat.

Tarsem Singh Waraich has been nominated as the coach of the equestrian team.
As security concerns have been raised, international organizations have taken action
After parents of a junior girl rider raised safety concerns with world governing body ITPF over tent pegging, the appointment immediately drew international criticism. Sources confirmed that the ITPF has written to the EFI to take “appropriate measures” to ensure the safety of the athletes. Waraich was also banned from attending a judges’ course held alongside the competition after objections from international participants.
This issue revealed deep divisions within the EFI. Secretary General Col (retd) Jaiveer Singh distanced himself from the decision, saying he was not aware of the appointment and alleged that Waraich had completed the assignment “on push” with the support of some executive committee members.
The ministry also pointed to EFI’s failure to set up state and district units in large parts of the country, despite being given a four-year consent period. The federation has been given 15 days to respond. Failure to respond satisfactorily may lead to cancellation of accreditation, leading to withdrawal of government funding and possible suspension of India by international federations.
Federation under pressure
With an impeached official representing India abroad and serious administrative questions at home, the EFI now finds itself under unprecedented pressure. The coming weeks will determine whether the federation can retain official recognition or face the most serious consequences of ongoing repression.
