Bowling first in the match, Afghanistan restricted the opposition to 160 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Rashid took one wicket with 24 runs in four overs. In the 16th over of the first innings, he completed the historic 700th catch in all forms of T20 cricket with a hit-wicket dismissal of Mohammad Arfan.
He is now far ahead in the number of wickets in T20 history. Retired all-rounder Dwayne Bravo is second with 631 wickets. Sunil Narine is third among active cricketers with 613 wickets. Rashid is also the highest wicket-taker in T20 Internationals, followed by Tim Southee and Ish Sodhi.
Before touching this milestone, he said, he does not aim to stop at any specific number. His aim is to give the best to the needs of the team. He had been waiting for this record ever since he took the 698th and 699th wickets against South Africa at the Narendra Modi Stadium last week. Rashid Khan is happy to reach this milestone.
