Shweta Tiwari Travel Kit: After Corona, there has been tremendous awareness among people regarding hygiene. Everyone is following it in their own way. In a recent interview, Shweta Tiwari, who always looks young, has said a lot about the personal hygiene of girls. She has said that every girl should have a hygiene pouch. This should include gloves, tissue, P-Safe (for sanitizing), toilet seat cover, your own soap and sanitizer. To keep yourself fresh and healthy, you should also have intimate wipes. Now the question is whether the hygiene kit mentioned by Shweta Tiwari is medically correct. Let us know the answer to this question from the expert.

What is important in a hygiene pouch?
In the news of Indian Express, Dr. Geeta Jain, gynecologist at Aastha Hospital was contacted for this question. He said the answer lies in maintaining a balance and understanding what actually protects against infection. Dr. Jain says that the most important aspect of preventing infection is proper cleanliness of hands. He said that it is true that along with soap and water, hand sanitizer is necessary for cleaning your body. These things reduce the risk of infection. Besides, it also gives psychological satisfaction. But it is not necessary that these things are needed always or 24 hours.
Things like toilet seat covers or sanitizing spray may be optional. Most infections do not spread through contact with the toilet seat.

Do toilet sprays really protect against infection?
Nowadays, Pee Safe spray and disposable seat covers are promoted to make toilet seats free from infection. But will this be able to protect against bacteria or other harmful microorganisms already present in the toilet seat? Dr. Geeta Jain says that these products can reduce the germs present on the toilet seat to some extent, but they are not a completely safe shield. This will make you feel that I am completely safe but it is not a 100% guarantee. On the other hand, excessive use of sanitizing products, especially intimate wipes, can disturb the balance of good bacteria that provide natural protection to the body. In fact, there is a natural system inside the genitals of women, which contains many types of beneficial microorganisms. These work to protect the body from harmful bacteria. Excessive use of wipes or other products harms the natural balance. Therefore excessive use of these products can reduce the healthy and good bacteria. Due to this, the risk of irritation or infection may increase instead of decreasing.

Are wipes suitable for private areas?
Dr. Geeta Jain says that repeated use of intimate wipes, especially those containing scented or excessive chemicals, can change the pH level of women’s genitalia. If you use intimate wipes or sanitizing products regularly, it disturbs the pH balance and due to this the genital microbiome i.e. good bacteria starts dying. Due to this, your natural protective shield can be destroyed. If this happens, it may cause dryness, itching, burning or frequent infections in the genitals. Therefore, in most cases, only gentle cleaning with water and use of minimal products is sufficient to maintain personal hygiene. Because the genitals are capable of keeping themselves clean.
