Beijing. The ice in the relations between the two superpowers of the world seems to be melting. An important meeting took place during the ongoing Munich Security Conference in Germany. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met his American counterpart, Foreign Minister Marco Rubio. In this meeting, Wang Yi made it clear that China does not want conflict with America, but wants to move towards cooperation and ‘win-win’ partnership. He said that 2026 can be made historic by following the path shown by President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump.
Wang Yi set a new tone in his conversation with Marco Rubio. He reminded that Xi Jinping and Trump have set a strategic direction for China-US relations. Now the time has come to implement the consensus reached between the leaders. Wang Yi said, “Dialogue between China and the United States is better than confrontation, cooperation is better than conflict, and joint victory is better than zero-sum.” He stressed that both the countries should move forward with an attitude of equality, respect and mutual benefit. We will have to find a way to resolve differences by understanding each other’s concerns.
