Calcutta : Jammu and Kashmir cricket team made it to the finals for the first time in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 with a brilliant performance. The final is being held in Hubli against Karnataka.

Right-arm pacer Aqib Nabi’s contribution to take Jammu and Kashmir to the final was outstanding. His devastating bowling proved to be a major challenge for the opposing batsmen throughout the tournament.

Former captain of Indian cricket team Sourav Gangopadhyay this time Aqib praised Nabi’s performance. He demanded BCCI to give him a chance in the Indian team. According to Sourav, players who perform consistently well in domestic cricket should be given a chance in the national team, and Aqib Nabi’s performance proves that he deserves that chance.

Sourav Ganguly X-A wrote, “Jammu & Kashmir has shown the world what can be done with effort and will! They have done their state proud. Tough situations make people tougher and tougher. Aqib Nabi is on his way to playing in the country’s jersey. He should start with the England tour in the summer.”

This trip Cricket World Cup 2027– is very important in view of Sourav Feels that Akib Nabi should be included in the Indian team for this tour.

Akib Ronji has already taken 5 wickets in the first innings against Karnataka in the final. He bowled match-winners in the quarter-finals and semi-finals and became the ‘Player of the Match’. He also scored 42 runs in addition to taking 8 wickets against Madhya Pradesh in the quarter-final and 9 against Bengal in the semi-final.

In the final, Jammu and Kashmir won the toss and decided to bat first. Shubham Pundi’s 121, Yawar Hasan Khan’s 88, Sahil Lotra’s 72, Kanhaiya Wadhawan and skipper Paras Dogra’s 70 runs each and Abdul Samad’s 61 runs made them collect 584 runs in the first innings.

Despite Mayank Agarwal’s innings of 160 runs against Karnataka, they could not survive against the devastating bowling of Aqib Nabi. Jammu and Kashmir bowled out Karnataka for 293 in the first innings and took a huge lead of 291 runs. Aqib Nabi took 5 wickets with 54 runs in 23 overs. If the match is a draw, then Jammu and Kashmir will be declared champions based on the first innings lead.
