The academies are named ‘Anjali Chandra Smriti Table Tennis Academy’ and ‘Swadesh Bhushan Chandra Smriti Badminton Academy’. On this day, the academy was inaugurated through a ceremony. Arjuna awardee and Padma Shri recipient table tennis player Mouma Das and State Food and Supplies Minister and Madhyamgram MLA Rathin Ghosh were present. Rathin Ghosh from the inaugural stage admitted that there was a lack of infrastructure in these two sports in the district.

He expressed hope that through this academy, new horizons will be opened in the sports field of the district and national and international quality players will emerge from here in the coming days. He also wished for the overall success of the academy. Athletes present at the event also said that many children do not get enough time for sports due to the pressure of studies in the current competitive era.

However, they want to convey the message to the new generation that it is possible to achieve success in life even through regular exercise and sports. The presence of former and current national-international level players at the function of the day further enhances the importance of the academy. Mouma Das himself also said that he will give special training to the students in this academy. As a result, players interested in playing table tennis and badminton from a wide area of ​​the district including Madhyamgram are going to get special importance in this training center.
