The T20 World Cup is ahead. The star pacer retired before that. Australian fast bowler Kane Richardson has ended a long and successful cricket chapter by retiring from professional cricket. In a career spanning nearly 17 years, he has proven himself in international cricket, domestic competitions and various franchise leagues around the world. The star pacer announced his retirement on Instagram.
Richardson is a member of Australia’s 2021 T20 World Cup winning team. In international cricket, he played 25 ODIs and 36 T20 matches for Australia. His pace, swing and variety in limited overs cricket made him a reliable bowler for the team. His greatest strength was his ability to take wickets at crucial times on the big stage.

Kane Richardson’s contribution to the Big Bash League was phenomenal. He took a total of 142 wickets in 15 seasons, making him the fifth highest wicket-taker in the history of the tournament. He played for Adelaide Strikers, Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Sixers. In particular, he became the highest wicket-taker in the club’s history with 104 wickets in 80 matches for the Renegades and was instrumental in winning eight BBL titles.
Outside of T20s, Richardson’s performance in First Class and List A cricket was also commendable. He took 102 wickets in 34 first-class matches and 153 wickets in 98 List A matches. Besides playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals and Pune Warriors in the IPL, he also participated in England and United Arab Emirates leagues.
Although injuries plagued him towards the end of his career, Richardson has retained his place in the hearts of cricket lovers. Many cricketers including teammate Adam Zampa congratulated him. Ken Richardson will long be remembered in Australian cricket for his professionalism, fighting spirit on and off the field.
