The height of this peak is 6,893 meters. It is the highest volcanic peak in the world and the second highest in South America and the highest peak in Chile. As a result of conquering this peak, she earned the honor of being the first woman mountaineer from Bengal and the second from India. This successful woman is the pride of Panshkura and Bengal – she is Arpita Patra, a professor in the Computer Science and Automation Department of the Indian Institute of Sciences.

After the month of October 2025, he again conquered the peak within four months. Even though he was born dead, his career journey started from the hour of Panshkura. This expedition is titled ‘Expedition Aparajita’. Conquering peaks one after the other with the inspiration and planning of Satyarup Siddhant’s ‘Winners and Achievers’. And this Bengali professor continues to set this extraordinary feat and example. He has already conquered Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. Mount Elbrus is the highest peak in Europe. Pico de Orizaba is the highest peak in North America and Mexico. Oceania’s highest peak is Mount Gilliwi. Papua New Guinea’s highest peak is Mount Wilhelm and Australia’s highest peak is Mount Kosciusko.

In this regard, Arpita Patra said, “I conquered Ojos del Salado, the highest active volcano in the world and the second highest peak in the Southern and Western Hemisphere. I feel proud to be the first Bengali woman to step on this peak. It was a challenge as this volcano is active. I prepared physically and mentally to conquer the summit twice in four months. I am happy to finally do it. My expedition will continue in the coming days.”

So far the five highest peaks of the seven continents have been conquered by him. This expedition to South America was very risky and difficult. This unique victory and success has come to him on the wings of unyielding morale and indomitable will power. Professor Arpita Patra is busy with classes, research and students, and goes out to climb mountains whenever she gets a chance.
